Jambo!
We continue to learn facts about the fascinating continent of
Africa. This week we learned about
the African Baobab Tree and itÕs unique characteristics during the wet and
rainy season. We learned about the
many insects, animals and birds that call it home. It is a tree of gargantuan proportion, measuring up to forty
feet across and sixty feet high.
These trees are thought to be the largest living organism and can live
up to 2,000 years! It quickly
became clear to us why the African people call it Mother of The Tree of
Life. Thanks to Clare Struck for
sharing her African experience with us.
Auntie Clare spent a month in Nigeria working at a womanÕs health clinic
and attending an African womanÕs retreat.
Her slides and artifacts were very interesting. During our explorations next week we
will focus on the animal life found in Africa. Thank you again for all the sharing you have sent to school.

We are still in need of several items as we continue our study of Africa:

Thank you for all your support!
